Prof. MAO Zhu, the recipient of the 2018 Mineral and Rock Physics Early Career Award from School of Earth and Space Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China(USTC), has received congratulations from Mickey Z. Gunter, the president of Mineralogical Society of America, that she has been elected as one of MSA fellows.

Mineralogical Society of America, founded in the year of 1919, has been one of the most influential geoscience academic organizations in the world. Since 1984, this organization has followed the tradition of granting MSA Fellow awards, voting the candidates from the outstanding scientists in fields of mineralogy, crystallography, geochemistry as well as petrology every year.

Prof. MAO Zhu, has taken up the experimental methods in research of matters deeply within the earth, in which the research results could be combined with the observation of seismology and the simulation of geodynamics to ensure the physical forms and structures of mantle and centrosphere to recreate the formation and evolution of the earth.
