On the evening of March 7, US local time, APS March Meeting was held in Los Angeles. Nearly a thousand overseas physicists all around the world attended this event. Five physical schools awarded national level one key discipline from University of Science and Technology of China(USTC), Peking University, Fudan University, Nanjing University and Tsinghua University, worked together as the Five school Union and held the 2018 Overseas Talent Introduction Session. Academician Du Jiangfeng, Executive Dean of USTC, gave a brief introduction about the college of Physics and the introduction policy of overseas talents in recent years. He said that, USTC physics always heading for the goal of establishing world first class discipline with comprehensive development and producing fruitful scientific research. The development of first-class disciplines need first-class talents. The college attaches great importance to the introduction and cultivation of young talents, giving them sufficient scientific research support, helping them adapt to the research environment and conduct research study as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Du Jiangfeng introduced the second session of Physics Sub-forum of the Mozi Forum to be held at USTC. He cordially invited outstanding young scholars at home and abroad to participate in the Mozi Forum and declare the 2018 annual youth thousands plan with USTC.
According to the agreement of the five schools, the overseas talent introduction lectures will be hosted by the five schools in turn every year during the APS March Meeting. The conference has been held successfully six times since 2013. The purpose of the conference is to bring international outstanding talents of physics back to China and boost the development of domestic physics disciplines.
