IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS)-USTC Student Branch embraced its unveiling ceremony at USTC West Campus on January 15. The ceremony was sponsored by IEEE SSCS and IEEE Nanjing Section, undertaken by USTC National Demonstrative Microelectronics College and CAS Key Laboratory of Wireless Photoelectric Communications, and was jointly hosted by USTC Micro-/Nano-Electronic System Integration Center (MESIC). Distinguished guests that attended the ceremony include Prof. Jan Van der Spiegel, Chairman of IEEE SSCS, Prof. Patrick Yue, Chairman of IEEE SSCS Executive Committee, Dr. Dong Hun Shin from Sysontek, Inc., and Prof. PAN Zhiwen from IEEE Nanjing Section, etc.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Prof. LI Weiping, who is also the Chief Engineer of the USTC Institute of Advanced Technology, addressed a welcome speech. In the speech, he wished that USTC students should make full use of the new platform and build firm foundation for their future career. Then, Prof. Jan Van der Spiegel expressed congratulations to the Branch’s opening on behalf of IEEE SSCS. He introduced some basic situations of the Society, and pointed out many benefits of joining the Student Branch, such as free IEEE SSCS membership and other free academic opportunities within the Society.

After the speeches, Prof. Spiegel and Prof. LI unveiled the nameplate of IEEE SSCS-USTC Student Branch together, which declared the establishment of Branch. Next, Prof. Spiegel and Prof. Yue issued the certificates of appointment to the first Bureau Members of the Branch. This is the second IEEE SSCS Student Branch in Chinese Mainland, and it is believed that its founding would greatly promote the development of microelectronics discipline in USTC.
