Sino-Foreign Culture Exchange Festival Held
Date:2020-11-19

On November 10, USTC Sino-Foreign Culture Exchange Festival was launched at the East Campus. Held by the international college, the event involved students from 16 countries ranging from South Korea to Uganda to show their unique culture and attracted more than 1000 visitors to “travel around the globe”.

Students wearing their traditional clothes at the festival

The festival was divided into two parts: the exhibitions and the performances.

There were twenty exquisite booths surrounding the stage. Students from diverse countries showed the culture of their countries by delicacies, costumes and so on. One can watch the colorful Russian garbs, sense the aroma of Ethiopian coffee and taste delicious French cuisine in one single space.

Besides, the part about Chinese culture hosted by Shuangxin Calligraphy and Painting Association provided questions on calligraphy and recognition of ancient Chinese characters, which illustrated a splendid view of traditional Chinese culture.

All the glamour provided the visitors with extreme fun and encyclopedic knowledge.

Some cultural exhibitions

The performances were equally fantastic. African dance Balaya brought the stage to the unsophisticated scenery of countryside. Dragon dancing played by Chinese students added endemic beauty to this international stage.

On site performances showing the diverse traditional culture

Every single performance lighted the audience up. The exhilarating performances introduced both exotic art and sheer joy to the campus and added warmth to the chilly winter day.

“Sino-Foreign Culture Exchange Festival enables us to enjoy diverse joy from different countries without traveling far, which is of significant importance during the pandemic. Moreover, through the activity, everyone has a better understanding of foreign culture”, said a student.
