Introduction to Bridgeland stability conditions I&II
Date:2016-04-01

Speaker: Professor ZHANG Ziyu (University of Bath)

Time: 2016-04-01 & 04-08, 10:00-11:00

Place: 1418, School of Mathematical Sciences

Detail:

Given a smooth projective variety X, a powerful technique to study the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on X is to study the Bridgeland stability conditions on this category. In these two talks, I will start by recalling the slope stability for vector bundles on a smooth projective curve as a motivating example of stability conditions. Then I will move on to the slightly abstract definition of stability conditions, and give more examples of stability conditions on algebraic curves and surfaces. To conclude, I will briefly mention one application of stability conditions in the study of birational geometry of moduli spaces of sheaves.
