Detail:

Abstract:
Water splitting continues to attract much attention for the purpose of producing hydrogen, which is regarded as the most promising alternative energy source for its cleanness, effectiveness and renewable. Water splitting consists of two half reactions, the reduction of protons and the oxidation of water. Since water oxidation reaction requires a multielectron transfer process building up of very high redox potential, this half reaction is considered as the bottleneck to achieve the overall water splitting , as the water oxidation catalysts (WOCs) are easy to be decomposed and/or deactivated under the highly oxidizing conditions required to oxidize water, the development of robust and long-living WOCs becomes the major obstacle in water splitting device. In this presentation, we will give a few examples of WOCs.
